Brunching Bitches

It was a rainy Sunday around here a couple of weeks ago. One of my besties was in town from Cali for a wedding so we stole her for a girls brunch. We landed on Gaslight in Lynnfield’s Market Street. This decision was made after one of us googled “best Bloody Mary’s” and it popped up. Priorities. Ironically enough the bloodies were the one thing no one really enjoyed.

It opened at the beginning of 2016 and comes from a well known Boston area restaurant group. The inside of the place is very West Elm. We sat in a booth right next to the open air kitchen and it was like watching a live episode of Master Chef. I was just waiting for Gordon Ramsey to pop out at any moment.

Gaslight 11.29.16 2Like any good group of brunching bitches, we all started with a round of coffee. I thought it was a little weak but good nonetheless. I will say that the waitress was generous and attentive with refills which I can appreciate. I got a mimosa cause I’m all about the bubbly. Everyone else got Bloody Marys. They came with the largest shrimp I’ve ever seen in my life. That thing was on steroids. I didn’t have a sip of the bloodies but I guess they were bland as someone, not naming any names, Paula, added about half a bottle of hot sauce to hers.

I got the truffled farm scramble and a cinnamon roll. The scramble was good with seasonal farm veggies but nothing to write home about. The seasonal veggies were diverse and fresh. The toast that came with everyone’s meals was delicious. The cinnamon roll was small but packed a big delicious punch.

The ambience lends itself to a group of gals gabbing and laughing without appearing to be disruptive to other patrons.

All in all, it was a warm, inviting brunch spot with decent food. Where has everyone else been going for brunch lately?
