Coll’s Cocktails: Irish Maid

In honor of St. Patty’s Day, I am bringing you a delish cocktail. It is made with Irish Whiskey so it is the perfect homage to the holiday. Even if you aren’t Irish you can enjoy this one! I love this cocktail because it is a little different then most whiskey drinks. It is made with cucumber and St. Germain liqueur. The cucumber gives this sucker a refreshing twist.

Irish Maid

Serve in an old-fashioned glass.
Servings 1 Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 3 Slices Cucumber
  • 2 Oz Irish Whiskey
  • 1/2 Oz St. Germain Liqueur
  • 3/4 Oz Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice *basically the juice of 1 Lemon
  • 3/4 Oz Simple Syrup

Instructions

  • Muddle the cucumbers at the bottom of a shaker.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the shaker with ice.
  • Shake!
  • Strain into an iced filled glass and garnish with a cucumber slice (if you’re feeling fancy!)

Notes

Simple Syrup is super easy to make. Since I like to make cocktails at home a lot I always keep a batch in the fridge. You make it by boiling 1 part sugar with 1 part water. As it is boiling, stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Then cool before using. I usually do at least 1/2 cup of sugar to 1/2 cup of water but you can do this in any increment you want.

This is basically a delicious more refreshing variation on a Whiskey Sour. I find this version a lot less heartburn inducing. Especially using fresh lemon juice. You will be shaking up a second round almost as soon as you get a taste of this. It is that good! But be careful they do go down smooth – you might find yourself a little tipsy before you know it! 😉

Let me know if you take this drink for a spin this weekend in the comments. Did you love it?? Even if you don’t get around to testing this one out this weekend let me know what you end up sipping on!
