1st Annual Date Night: Osteria Posto

My fiancé works unusual hours, including nights and weekends. We decided to implement a monthly date night to guarantee we get some QT. The first annual occurred at a somewhat new Italian restaurant in our area, Osteria Posto. It opened about 10 months ago but I just had not had an opportunity to get over there yet before this.

When we walked in I was immediately impressed and also surprised. I did not realize that it was going to be as upscale as it was. The complimentary valet out front probably should have tipped me off but apparently I wasn’t quick on the uptake that evening.

We arrived fairly early on a Saturday and we were almost turned away because we didn’t have a reservation and they were all booked up for the evening. But we were able to sidle up to the bar and grab a couple of seats. I knew I was going to like the joint immediately when I saw they had Whiskey Smash featured on the cocktail list. They had a great selection of locally sourced beers on their beer list as well. The bar area was very sleek but warm.  The service was a little slow but it was busy and I wasn’t in any particular rush so it wasn’t really an issue.

The menu appears to be seasonally curated as there were a lot of fall flavors featured. We started off with a classic appetizer, calamari.  It was tasty but I thought it was lacking slightly in the flavor department. But to be fair, I generally prefer a spicy calamari and these were just not geared towards that type of palate. My fiancé thought it was

delicious. I ordered the Tortellini as my main dish. Here is where the seasonal flavors come in. The Tortellini was stuffed with crab and lobster. The sauce was really two sauces; a ginger and cider spiced squash purée and a Parmesan crema. It was to die for. It was rich but the flavors still shined through. The presentation was good as well. Unfortunately, for you guys I didn’t get any pictures of the presentation because I was starving so I just went HAM on my meal. But lucky for you guys they have a dreamy Instagram featuring a ton of their food and drinks. I highly recommend you go check out their Instagram @osteriaposto and get your drool on.

We each had a couple of cocktails, beers, an app, and two entrees and the bill was very reasonable for the quality, just under $100 total pre-tip. I would recccomend this place to anyone looking for a good quality meal but not interested in going all the way into town.
