Coll’s Cocktails: Vodka Soda

It’s thirsty Thursday and it is time for a drink! I’m sharing my go-to beverage of choice when I am in the mood for something a light. I have two different versions of my own Vodka Soda that I like.

Vodka Soda

Ingredients

  • Vodka
  • Sparkling Water (plain or flavored – your choice!)
  • Raspberries (frozen or fresh)
  • Sugar
  • Lemon or Lime

Directions

  • Toss in a handful of raspberries (or any berry of choice will work!), scoop a spoonful ofsugar on top and muddle the berries and sugar together. (If you don’t have a muddler just use a wooden spoon)
  • Squeeze in some lemon or lime
  • Toss in some ice
  • Pour in vodka – I usually just eyeball it to an amount that usually is based off how my day went but if you’re not a huge drinker 1 shot glass should be sufficient.
  • Top off with sparkling water
  • Stir and drink!! Repeat as necessary.

* You can buy simple syrup at a lot of packies now but it is so simple to make at home. Boil 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water and 1 cup of whatever fruit/berry flavor you want (you can even use frozen fruit and berries). While boiling just keep stirring and the berries will disintegrate and dissolve while the sugar dissolves in the water. Once it is all dissolved together, take it off the stove and let it cool and it is ready to go! It will keep in the fridge for about a month. Just toss it in a mason jar and you can have Vodka Soda 2.0 whenever you want for a month!
